Prof Adré Schreuder had a dream to create a scientifically sound customer satisfaction index that provide results that can be compared internationally. Thus, the SAcsi was founded. Adre is not only the founder of SAcsi, but also the Chief Executive Officer of Consulta. Consulta is the custodial organisation of the SAcsi. In 2012 Consulta reached an agreement with the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to launch the South African version of this global satisfaction measurement benchmark.

    Partnering with the ACSI ensures:

    • That South Africa obtains a holistic picture of the health of its economy and consumers.
    • Understanding of South African competitiveness in comparison to the world’s leading economies.
    • That South Africa is part of an international system of customer satisfaction measurement founded on a common methodology.

The SAcsi is a national economic indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of products and services purchased and used by household consumers in South Africa. Extensive analytical, customer satisfaction measurement, consulting and management skills put Consulta (Pty) Ltd in the best position to represent the South African Customer Satisfaction Index as licensed partner with the American

Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Global CSITM. The SAcsi is a causal model that links customer expectations, perceived quality and perceived value to customer satisfaction (the SAcsi score), which in turn is linked to customer complaints (and recovery) and customer loyalty intentions. Each metric provides insight into customer satisfaction drivers. Combined, these metrics provide a holistic view that can predict customer buying behaviour (with specific reference to customer retention).

The SAcsi is part of 29 global country partners in the ACSI Global CSITM and has since 2012 produced a series of indices at national, economic sector, industry and company/agency levels.
